RADWIMPS (ラッドウインプス, Raddo'uinpusu) is a Japanese rock band, and the group that created the original soundtrack for Weathering With You.

Overview

RADWIMPS is a rock band originating from Kanagawa, Japan that first formed in 2001 during their first year of high school. They debuted independently in 2003 and later on major label Toshiba EMI in 2005. The band's name was formed from two English language slang terms, "rad" and "wimp." According to the band, the coined word had several meanings, including "excellent weakling" and "superlative coward."

Weathering With You

On August 26, 2017, director Makoto Shinkai sent the script of the movie to RADWIMPS vocalist Yojiro Noda for his opinions before he received the song Is There Still Anything That Love Can Do? from RADWIMPS, which was then used as the film's theme song. The soundtrack went on to win a number of awards, including the Best Music category at the Mainichi Film Awards in 2019, and Animation Album of the Year (Japan Gold Disc Award), Best Music (Japan Academy Film Prize) and Best Soundtrack (Space Shower Music Awards), in 2020.
